59 posts in 1259 days Location: Left Coast Please forgive me if I do not respond to you, I'm still trying to figure this site out. :) Just a quick little bit of background on how I got to this point... I asked for a hand held Dremel for my birthday in April ('08) and started making hair accessories for longhairs, like myself, from oak and poplar planks I bought at HomeDepot. I'd never done any type of woodworking before except a little pyrography, so this carving was completely new to me. It didn't take long before I was hooked. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was designing pieces in my head when I wasn't able to actually be in my little "shop" with wood in my hands. I eventually opened up my little shop at etsy.com to share my pieces since I can only use so many. Wood is my hobby and obsession now. I've gotten into working with some exotics and they're just stunning. I do worry about whether the wood was legitimately obtained and not depleting the rain forests. Anyway .. Welcome to LJ. There is nothing you can do about wood allready cut down except make something out of it so it is not burned. Dont worry about is as long as you dont go cut down trees in the rain forest your good to go.
