well guys I did strike a good deal today , I hope. one C-Note for a
SPRUNGER TOOL CO. 10 1/4 ” blade. 1.5 hp 3450rpm Dayton Motor cabinet saw. made in the 1950’s
I just could not pass this up from CL. It’s in excellent shape and had new belts just installed.no rust or anything, the fence still looks new, and the motor is so soft sounding, no vibration in the table at all. sort of looks like a Delta unisaw.
By reading the board every night this past week from about 9pm to 3am since last Thursday I discovered a treasure trove of information and photo’s on here. I used what I learned on the site to purchase the above saw. I was going to buy a Porter Cable job site saw, then found out just by by reading here that would never work for me.( nothing at the big box stores would work) So I decided maybe a delta ten saw, Still looking for that one. In my quest I found the above on CL, the Sprunger. I figured why not, it’s in great shape, has new belts and very well taken care of. So I thought for a minute, Would the guys at Lumberjocks pass this up? most likely not. The fence still shines like new , and has a chrome handle. The saw belong to the grandfather of the person that sold it. The grandfather is still around and assured me it has been very well taken care of. He told me the saw was top of the line in 1950’s. Then stated he is the first and only owner. wow, I thought, other than his grandson. The grandfather is going to see if he has the manuals to it.
I know I will have questions on the board about this. I will post some photos after I pick it up.
The combined knowledge on here is incredible.
thanks everyone.
