I am retired. During my working career I worked as an environmental analytical chemist for 30 years. I have two sons and five grandchildren (ages: newborn, 3,4,7 and 8) and have been married to my wife, Susan, for 35 years (I think that is right). I am blessed to have all my family in the immediate area and, with my retirement from state government began my new and, far more enjoyable, role as a grandfather. To tell the truth I find these guys to be a lot more fun than I remember their parents being. :)

With regards to woodworking my initial experience was in the general carpentry field such as installing doors, trim and hardwood flooring. My father, a third generation carpenter, tried to interest me in carpentry and woodworking when I was younger but, of course, I couldn't see any reason for learning those skills at that time. And now I don't have the opportunity to avail myself of his experience- much to my regret. I have taken several woodworking classes but remain largely self-taught.

I am looking forward to working with the people involved in this forum through which I hope I can make a modest contribution to return some of the joy that woodworking has brought into my life.

I guess it would be silly for me to ask who you’re rooting for in today’s game? I’ll be moving to Shelbyville in a few weeks, and we’ll practically be neighbors. Welcome to Lumberjocks!

Go Cats. Glad to see Big Blue as an avatar. I graduated a South Carolina “illegal fighting chicken”, but grew up and went to high school in Lexington, KY. I now live in Lexington, SC. Don’t get as many UK games here but then again it’s been a tough season this year, huh? Glad to see you found LJ’s.

We would like to welcome you to the one and only LumberJocks. If you should need any woodworking question answered, don’t hesitate to ask. Somebody’s gonna have a good answer for you.
