Planer..the only one I will ever own

Planer..the only one I will ever own

48 days ago by GrandsonOfRue | 19 comments »

This planer is awesome. It is pricey, but I personally feel you get good value for it. I have seen it for $599 – $699. I paid $599. So shop around. This sucker is a beast. I mean heavy. For my shop it sits on a rolling cart that is much larger than the planer. I saw recently a guy who built a portable stand for his and it was no much wider than the planer itself. I cringed at the thought of it catching on a wood chip and falling over. I assure you once it starts falling there is n...

DeWalt Side Strike Chisel Really Work

DeWalt Side Strike Chisel Really Work

55 days ago by Harry_Ch | 6 comments »

Recently got the DeWalt Side Strike Chisel because I needed a tool that could take being used and abused but wouldn’t complain about it later. Saw the batoning chisel LV has, but got to handle this one first. Out of the box(so to speak), it has a good sturdy blade with a 1 inch chisel nose along with an equally good side bevel/serrated edge(dang left-handed design). The handle is thick enough to fit your hand very well, regardless of which way you are holding it. That’s hard to...

Two Palm Routers Will Enter One Will Leave!

Two Palm Routers Will Enter One Will Leave!

82 days ago by Brad | 16 comments »

So awhile back I knew the time had come to get into the palm router game. I know some woodworkers are loyal to one brand and their shop is a “Jet Shop” or a “Powermatic” shop. My tool collection seems to be pretty varied although I have exiled ALL that is Harbor Freight! So when I started my research on palm routers there seemed to be two major contenders for the title. The Bosch Colt found for about $90 as a stand alone or $180 as a complete package with lots of ac...

Dewalt tracksaw

Dewalt tracksaw

86 days ago by Mitch | 7 comments »

I have been drooling over the thought of owning a tracksaw for a few years now, and i finally broke down and bought one a couple days ago! I have always been the type to wait and buy a tool when i need to put it right to work. I am working on a big trophy/show case job right now and wanted to make all the backs of these cases out of 3/4” oak plywood in order to have some good meat there to mount all the adjustible shelf tracking too. I really didnt want to wrestle all these sheets (a...

Dewalt Delivers

Dewalt Delivers

Greetings, I wanted to share a review of the Dewalt DW745 portable table saw. I bought this table saw a few months ago to do a hardwood floor install and have been quite impressed with its accuracy and power. I have owned several portable table saw which have been used Makitas. The Makitas are great for power and durability, but just didn’t have what I wanted in safety features and precision. I was looking for something that would allow me to do better quality wood working without the ...

New Tool Purchase

New Tool Purchase

Just this evening I picked up a new DW734. I would post what I paid for it, but you would not believe me. After I get it set up and make some chips I will write a review and by that time I will have taken a picture of my receipt and post it. There was a very large error made, I by happenstance came across it, took advantage of it by placing my order and the price was honored. I am very fortunate of this event and know it. I am also very grateful for this event as I would not have been ab...

Dewalt Biscuits Align Tabletops Accurately

Dewalt Biscuits Align Tabletops Accurately

186 days ago by pintodeluxe | 3 comments »

These Dewalt Biscuits fit snugly into the slot compared to other brands I have used. In the dozens of tubes of Porter Cable biscuits I have used, they are always a little loose. That is fine for most work, but these Dewalt biscuits are better. Because the fit is so good, it actually aligns the edges for you. This is very helpful when doing glue-ups for tabletops. I realized how good the fit was when I mistakenly put biscuits in the slots on both sides of the joint. When I realized I had...

Huge Table and Easy Blade Changes

Huge Table and Easy Blade Changes

As a disclaimer, I am far from being a seasoned and proficient user of a scroll saw. I’ve cut out a few things in my day but have not embarked on any detailed fret work or intarsia design work. A majority of my projects have centered on simple wooden cutouts of letters, patterns, and a few animal puzzles. I view my scroll saw as more of a complement to my workshop and one of those tools that are fun to play with when I have some time. I have to be in the scrolling mindset though else I qu...

Dewalt 788 Scroll Saw

Dewalt 788 Scroll Saw

203 days ago by moonls | 18 comments »

I’d been using my Craftsman 16” scroll saw off and on since 2003, and recently, with a renewed interest in scroll work, I started trying to improve my skill. I was becoming frustrated with keeping the very small pinless blades secured in the holders and maintaining proper tension. The other big problem was vibration. Having researched the different saws on the market, it became apparent that the Dewalt was the best rated of the bunch in my price range. I ordered one on-line ...

My DW788 Scrollsaw Review and purchase experience.

My DW788 Scrollsaw Review and purchase experience.

252 days ago by Pie | 10 comments »

I was told the saw would be received in a week and I got it in about 4 days which was really nice. I also bought the stand that goes with the saw for an extra $46 and it was money well spent. The stand was very easy to assemble. I unpacked the saw (I bought a Used but New one) and could tell the saw had been opened and then repacked. The saw was in perfect condition, no scratches or blemishes at all. I picked the saw up and placed it on the stand and put the tear drop table on which was a sna...
