My grandfather was a machinist and part time woodworker and my dad was a tool and die maker were .0005 was the standard tolerance allowed. So I had hoped that their expertise would somehow rub off on me when I started woodworking. However I found that my philosophy of measure once cut twice did not seem to match their expertise.
I have found that woodworking is an incredible field were your never done learning and you can hide most of your mistakes by intensive amounts of sanding. I've been doing it for about a year now and as long as my wife can put up with the bills I will continue.
